Postal Products Unlimited recommends the STD-4C to all customers interested in purchasing Horizontal Mailboxes since the U.S Postal Service discontinued the 4B+ for all new construction. Older styles of horizontal or vertical mailboxes known as STD-4B+ are still considered USPS-Approved when used to replace existing mailboxes - as long as the installation does not disturb the existing wall opening. Please see your local Postmaster with any questions. The USPS issued the STD-4B+ effective March 2005. This regulation requires improved Arrow lock compartment security on all horizontal and vertical wall-mounted mailboxes.
